Sixty two years ago on March 31, 1957 the Fr. Michael J. McGivney monument was dedicated. Here's a listing of some of the dignitaries at that original dedication according to an article from The Republic, April 1, 1957;
SPEAKERS PLATFORM at the McGivney Monument dedicatory services yesterday afternoon showed this array of local and supreme officers of the Knights of Columbus as well as visiting churchmen. Left to-right, Rev. Carl bishop of Norwich, Conn. and His Eminence; Francis Kula, chaplain of Sheridan. Council K of C, Waterbury; Supreme Director James V. Hughes, Vancouver, British Columbia; Gov. A. A. Ribicoff ; Supreme Knight Luke Hart, St. Louis, Mo.; Most Rev. Bernard J. Flanagan, bishop of Norwich, Conn. and His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Spellman, New York:" - Archbishop Henry J. O'Brien of Hartford was not in that photo but was in the following as a speaker, as well as Judge John E. Swift of Boston, a former supreme knight. (To view the entire article forwarded by John Walsh, great grandnephew of Fr. McGivney and an eye witness to this event, see below.)
On July 1, 2019 there was another procession from this same monument recognizing the Order marking the official switch to the new Fourth Degree Uniform. There was also a "Regalia Retirement Mass" June 30th at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury, the hometown of Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney, which began with a Prayer Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the McGivney statue and procession to the Basilica. Reception followed.

2020 VETERAN'S HOSPITAL VISIT:
PANDEMIC STYLE
Serving Those Who Served
Just a quick note to update you and let you know that the Mission has been accomplished. Quite a bit different from the first 27 years of our Veterans Christmas visit.
Gift cards were delivered to our men's house, to Sister Theresa, to our permanent men's house (Waldorf House) at our female house.
A sticker was created indicating "Merry Christmas from Southern CT Knights of Columbus Assemblies and Councils" and affixed to each gc and they were distributed based on bed counts (as they have been every year) as follows:
Final reports for this year (and last year) will be distributed with thank you letters once all incoming checks are received and I look forward to doing this in traditional fashion in 2021 if possible.Thank you again to the leaders and membership of Philip Sheridan Assembly 107 and the other participating Assemblies and Councils for your support and Merry Christmas.
VIVAT JESUS,
VJ, Vince
